On July 9th, the US Jobs Project bus tour made a stop in North Venice, FL to tour the beautiful expanded headquarters of Tervis, the maker of our favorite Made in USA tumblers.
Julie Reiser, President & Co-Founder of Made in USA Certified, her husband, Adam Reiser and four of their six children ages 15, 11, 11, and 6 toured the impressive facility.
They learned about the cool new customization application now available on the website and saw how the tumblers are made to last from the beginning of the process to the end.
Tervis has a lifetime guarantee on all their tumblers and will replace every faulty one they ship. (and there aren’t many) They go to great lengths to make sure they are making the very best tumblers possible. Tervis is known for it’s quality, its dependability and functionality and everyone at Tervis takes great pride in that.
They proudly employ close to 700 employees and ship nationwide to mom & pop retailers and to big box stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond. They do a huge licencing business, from colleges, to sports teams to NASCAR.
Tervis utilizes high technology as well as lean and efficient business practices. The entire facility is clean and comfortable, with big brightly lit spaces, wall-less offices, big open seating, bright colors and a worker friendly environment. Tervis promotes employees a lot from within and has a very low turn over rate.
Tervis is a great example of how today’s manufacturing process is leaner and more efficient but, that even with the replacement of robotics and high technology machines the need for highly skilled and highly motivated employees to work these machines are still very necessary. Manufacturing is no longer – dirty, dumb and dangerous. It is clean, smartly efficient and safe- this is very evident at Tervis.
The merge of high technology, lean manufacturing processes and the human component have enabled Tervis to rise to the top of the food chain when it comes to making high quality, long lasting tumblers and it is easy to see why so many people love working there.
We want to thank everyone at Tervis for being so passionate about manufacturing in the USA and the valuable jobs they have created for so many Americans.
Together, We Create Jobs in the USA.
